Character Traits: Love
Galatians 5:22-23

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 NASB

Agape love is portrayed as the greatest virtue and a foundational characteristic of faith in Christ in the life of a believer, as it is a reflection of God’s unfathomable love. It is agape love that God the Father has for humanity which propelled His giving His Son to be our substitutional sacrifice, atoning for our sins. Agape love is a self-sacrificing love that chooses to put others first regardless of their response. More than emotion, it is a choice, an act of the will, that is displayed in seeking the absolute best and highest good for the other person.

Lord Jesus, may the character trait of love be evident in my life, reflecting Your love and glorifying You.
